U.S. President Donald Trump, while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office, stated that Washington has prepared a plan to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing that it must be approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said this in response to a BBC question during a press briefing published in a video on YouTube.
Trump stressed that, in his view, the war “should never have started” and that both Ukraine and Russia are suffering enormous losses. He said he had discussed the issue with Ukrainian representatives and sees a path to quickly achieving peace: “We have a way to get peace. He has to approve it.”
The U.S. president also noted that if Zelenskyy does not agree to the proposed plan, “then I guess they will just keep fighting.” According to him, the initiative is intended to “save a lot of lives” and stop further casualties, which he said are the largest seen since World War II.
