The death toll from a Russian airstrike on Komyshuvakha in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region has risen to 31. Russian forces attacked the settlement on November 2 as local residents were receiving humanitarian aid at a community resilience center.
The acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Semikin, reported the latest figures.
Russian forces carried out at least nine strikes on the settlement the previous day. They initially used FAB-500 guided aerial bombs, followed by FAB-3000 bombs.
“The FAB-3000 is a three-ton aerial bomb containing nearly one and a half tons of explosives. Such weapons are used to destroy heavily reinforced concrete fortifications and bunkers,” Semikin said.
The concrete structure of the underground community resilience center collapsed after a direct hit. Civilians who had come to receive humanitarian aid were inside at the time of the attack.
According to Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Defense Council, November 3, 4 and 5 have been declared days of mourning in the Zaporizhzhia region for those killed in the Russian attack.
