Norway will send all promised F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by the end of 2025. The number of aircraft has not been specified for security reasons.
This was announced by Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Svedvik in an interview with NRK.
According to the Norwegian minister, some of the aircraft have already been transferred, and the rest are scheduled to be sent within seven months.
“The transfer of Norwegian F-16 fighter jets is going according to plan, but for the sake of Ukraine’s operational security and as part of our dialogue with Ukraine, we do not want to disclose exactly how many Norwegian aircraft have been transferred,” Sandvik said.
As noted by the defense minister, in 2024, the Norwegian government increased its support for Ukraine’s air defense by 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner (over 112 million euros).
As Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced in the summer of 2024, Ukraine will receive six F-16 fighter jets from Norway.
