Ukraine has reached an agreement with Belgium on the delivery of three F-16 fighter jets by the end of this year. The aircraft are expected to be transferred under an accelerated procedure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the agreement.
Ukraine has already received urgent deliveries of F-16 ammunition from Belgium and other countries, including Spain.
“As Russia escalates every day, we need to expand our capabilities to shoot down aerial targets and protect people,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked Belgium, Prime Minister Bart De Wever and the country’s government for supporting Ukraine and taking decisive steps in response to Russian strikes.
