The Kremlin has announced that it is analyzing materials on the possible end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, which Kirill Dmitriev handed over to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin after his trip to the United States.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to the Russian state agency TASS.
According to Peskov, further contacts with the American side will depend on the decisions made by the Russian president after reviewing these documents.
‘We are analyzing what Dmitriev conveyed to Putin, we are analyzing this material. Then, depending on what decisions are made by the head of state, we will continue our communication with the Americans,’ he said.
The proposals were handed over to Putin after a meeting in Miami, where the format of possible negotiations with representatives of Trump’s team could have been discussed.
At the same time, the Kremlin denied the possibility of a direct conversation between Putin and Donald Trump in the near future. According to Peskov, as of 25 December, no phone call is planned.
On 2 December, Zelenskyy announced that the document being worked on by the negotiating teams contained 20 points, not 28 as Russia had proposed. On the same day, Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a nearly five-hour meeting with the American delegation in Moscow. Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said afterwards that the parties had not yet ‘reached a compromise’ on the war in Ukraine.
