Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement that Kyiv may be given a license to produce Patriot missile system rockets.

This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency Interfax.

The Kremlin said that the United States continues to supply Ukraine with weapons, in particular Patriot missiles, but at the same time, unlike Europeans, allegedly maintains a desire to facilitate the peace process.

“As for Patriot, yes, this is an obvious fact, the United States is continuing at full speed the supplies of weapons, supplies of military technologies to Ukraine — we know this. We are not wearing rose-colored glasses, President Vladimir Putin knows this perfectly well, but at the same time there is a certain kind of duality here in the position of the United States. The United States, unlike those same Europeans, at the same time maintains a desire to facilitate an exit to the peace process,” Peskov said.

According to Peskov, the Kremlin values this position of Washington and welcomes it.

“Let them sometimes be mistaken, let them sometimes make mistakes, but this desire seems sincere to us, we welcome it,” he said.

Peskov also commented on Trump’s statement about the possibility of “closing the sky” over the territory of Ukraine as a security guarantee.

“This is a new statement. There have been no such statements before. Previously, no one discussed the topic of closing the sky. In any case, it will mean that the armed forces of a NATO country will be operating on the territory of Ukraine. This is exactly what the special military operation is being carried out against,” Peskov said.

According to him, the Kremlin still has to “comprehend” this statement.

“This still has to be comprehended, how much this issue has been worked through, between whom it has been worked through, and so on,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
