        Kostyuk beats Paolini to reach first Wimbledon semifinal

        Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reached the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time in her career. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Italy’s number one and the 2024 tournament runner-up Jasmine Paolini in two sets.

        This was reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

        Today, Marta Kostyuk claimed one of the biggest victories of her career and advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals.

        In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian tennis player faced Italy’s number one Jasmine Paolini, who was the runner-up of the 2024 tournament. The match between the players lasted 70 minutes and ended with the Ukrainian’s victory in two sets — 6:3, 6:2.

        Thanks to this result, Marta reached the semifinals of the grass-court Grand Slam for the first time in her career. This is also the second consecutive Grand Slam tournament in which the Ukrainian has reached this stage.

        Kostyuk became the second Ukrainian in history after Elina Svitolina to reach the Wimbledon semifinals.

        In the match for a place in the final, Marta Kostyuk will play Czech tennis player Linda Noskova. The match will take place on July 9 and will start no earlier than 17:30 Kyiv time.
