Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk, together with Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse, has reached the third round of the women’s doubles at Wimbledon 2026. In the second round, the Ukrainian-Romanian duo defeated Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi and Janice Tjen, Suspilne Sport reported.
Kostyuk and Ruse won the match in straight sets — 6-4, 7-6(8). It was already Kostyuk’s second win of the day at Wimbledon.
Sutjiadi and Tjen started the opening set more aggressively and took a 2-0 lead. But Kostyuk and Ruse responded by winning five games in a row and eventually took the set 6-4.
In the second set, the Ukrainian-Romanian pair quickly moved ahead 3-0, but their opponents fought back with a run of four consecutive games. The teams then continued trading games until the set reached 6-6.
The set was decided by a tie-break. The Indonesian pair saved two match points, but Kostyuk and Ruse finally closed it out 10-8.
In the first round of the doubles tournament, Kostyuk and Ruse had claimed a notable win over fifth seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez of the United States and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand. That match ended in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
In the third round, Kostyuk and Ruse could potentially face ninth seeds Ellen Perez of Australia and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands.
