EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said Russia’s reported use of the “Oreshnik” missile against Ukraine marks a clear escalation of the war and serves as a warning to Europe and the United States.
Kaja Kallas made the statement in a post on X while commenting on Russia’s latest massive strike on Ukraine. According to her, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not seeking peace, and Moscow’s response to diplomacy is more missiles and destruction.
Kallas stressed that this deadly pattern of recurring large-scale Russian attacks will continue unless Ukraine is helped to break it. She said the reported use of the “Oreshnik” missile represents a clear escalation against Ukraine and is intended as a warning not only to Kyiv, but also to Europe and the United States.
The EU’s top diplomat urged EU member states to dig deeper into their air defence stocks and deliver systems to Ukraine without delay. She also called for further raising the cost of the war for Moscow, including through tougher sanctions.
