Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has already lasted as long as Nazi Germany’s war against the Soviet Union. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian aggression can only be stopped through united global efforts.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening address. According to him, today marks the 1,418th day of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy stated that Russia “wanted to repeat — and repeated abuse of people, repeated fascism, repeated almost everything that was the worst of the 20th century.” He stressed that the Russian army is waging war against energy infrastructure, using attack drones and ballistic missiles against power plants and boiler facilities.
The president noted that despite heavy losses, Russian forces continue attempts to seize the Donbas, just as they did nearly four years ago, and once again seek to falsely claim the capture of Kupiansk. According to him, Russian troops are “endlessly dying in the fields of Zaporizhzhia,” effectively fighting against Ukraine alone.
Zelenskyy emphasized that even with all the assistance from partners, it is Ukrainian people who are holding the front line. He also said that Russian losses amount to no fewer than 1,000 killed per day since December, calling it the price the Kremlin is paying for refusing to end the war.
“This says a lot about the system built by Vladimir Putin and about him personally,” Zelenskyy said. According to the president, this “Russian madness” can only be stopped by the combined forces of Europe, the United States, and all of Ukraine’s partners.
He stressed that every day of the war is a reminder that the world must protect itself and stop Russia.
