Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the exposure of a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector and stressed the need for real action against corruption and transparency in strategic state-owned enterprises, in particular in Energoatom.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during an evening video address on November 10.

According to Zelenskyy, Energoatom currently provides Ukraine with the largest share of energy generation, and transparency within the company is a priority.

“Energy, every industry. Everyone who built these schemes must receive a clear procedural response. There must be convictions,” said the Ukrainian leader.

As Zelenskyy noted, government officials must work together with NABU, together with law enforcement agencies, and “work as necessary to achieve results.”

The president also stressed the need for effective action against corruption and the inevitability of punishment.
