President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that making concessions to the aggressor would repeat past historical mistakes. He also called for full sanctions against Russia’s energy sector, including its nuclear industry.

Zelenskyy stressed that allowing the aggressor “to take something” is a major mistake that has been made since 2014 and even earlier — during Russia’s aggression against Georgia and Chechnya. He said he does not want to be a president who repeats the mistakes of his predecessors or other world leaders who allowed Russia to enter their territories.

Zelenskyy stated that Vladimir Putin “cannot be stopped with kisses or flowers” and urged others not to attempt to appease him. According to the president, Russia is currently losing 30,000–35,000 troops per month, and if the aggression is not stopped, the Kremlin could rebuild its army within several years.

The head of state also thanked US President Donald Trump for imposing sanctions on Lukoil and Rosneft and called for full restrictions on Russia’s entire energy sector, including nuclear energy. Zelenskyy noted that Europe has not yet imposed sanctions on Rosatom or on individuals and their relatives who, he said, use profits from Russian energy to live and study in Europe and the United States.

The president urged such individuals to return to Russia, stating that they do not respect democratic rules or the countries in which they reside.
