President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defence Council on sanctions. As the President noted in his address, the sanctions include propagandists working for Russia, people who have defected to the enemy, and those who help Russia in the war.
“We continue to deprive people of state awards. Only those who truly devote their lives to Ukraine deserve the title of Hero of Ukraine. We are also preparing new sanctions decisions that will be announced in the near future,’ Zelenskyy said.
Appointment of a new head of the Army Academy.
The President announced the completion of a survey in the Army+ app on the candidacy of the new head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy. Out of the five candidates proposed by the command, Colonel Roman Kachur, who previously commanded the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade, received the most votes.
Colonel Kachur was instructed to conduct an audit of the academy, including its funding, quality of training and staff. Defence Minister Rustem Umerov will appoint Kachur to the position of the academy’s head.
“The Ukrainian army needs tactical leaders – strong sergeants and lieutenants. We need training based on the experience of this war and the heroism of our soldiers,’ the President said.
He thanked the servicemen who took part in the survey and stressed that Ukraine would continue to engage the military and citizens in state decision-making through digital tools.
Coordination of security assistance to Ukraine.
The President also announced the appointment of Brigadier General Hennadiy Shapovalov, who will be based in Wiesbaden, Germany. His task will be to coordinate security assistance from partners.
