President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko as the new Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He announced the decision on social media.
Zelenskiy emphasized that the Air Force comprises thousands of professionals, technical personnel, experts, and volunteers who ensure Ukrainian skies remain under Ukraine’s control and deny Russia air superiority. He thanked everyone involved and underscored the need for further development of this vital component of national defense.
The President noted that the Air Force is implementing a 20-year aviation development strategy. In 2025, French Mirage fighter jets are already in operation, and Ukraine’s fleet of F-16 aircraft has expanded. According to Zelenskiy, the key goal is to build a powerful, modern aviation force integrated with NATO standards and capable of becoming one of the strongest in Europe.
He stressed that the future of Ukraine’s Air Force depends on coordinated work between the Armed Forces, the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense, international partners, and dedicated experts who are committed to Ukraine’s strength and victory.
