The US president said that Ukraine had agreed not to strike Russian energy targets, while Russia had agreed to do the same. Donald Trump also linked the rise in global diesel prices mainly to Russia’s war against Ukraine rather than to Iran.

“Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian energy targets. Russia has agreed to do likewise. The rise in global diesel prices is mostly caused by the Russia-Ukraine war, not Iran,” the post reads.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called on Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop strikes on Russian diesel production infrastructure. According to Trump, Ukrainian attacks had caused a fuel shortage that was “hurting the world.”
“Mr. Zelenskyy has to do one thing: he has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia. We spoke to Mr. Zelenskyy about it. There are plenty of other targets. Don’t hit diesel fuel. That’s hurting the world,” Trump said.
Reuters notes that a series of long-range Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries in recent months reduced fuel production in Russia and caused gasoline shortages in the country. At the same time, Ukraine regularly comes under Russian attacks on its own energy infrastructure.
