Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had instructed officials to prepare personnel decisions proposed by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi. The decisions were discussed in the context of strengthening defense on the most intense sectors of the front.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on August 17.
During a briefing on the situation at the front, the situation in Donetsk region was discussed in detail, in particular in Kostiantynivka and on the Sloviansk and Pokrovsk axes.
“We have updated data on the tasks of the Russian army in the relevant areas, and we are preparing our response,” the president said.
The defense minister also reported on the protection of cities, communities and frontline logistics from Russian drones. Zelenskyy said additional resources were needed for this.
Together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they identified additional organizational steps that should strengthen defense on the most intense sectors.
“I instructed that personnel decisions proposed by the Commander-in-Chief be prepared,” Zelenskyy said.
They also separately discussed the implementation of long-range operations during the first half of August. According to the president, the priorities for deep strikes for the coming weeks and September were confirmed, while Russian losses, in his assessment, demonstrate the correctness of the chosen long-range course.
