Zaporizhzhia hit by drone attack: two police officers injured, multiple fires reported

Russian drones targeted the city of Zaporizhzhia and its surrounding district early Saturday morning, sparking fires and damaging civilian infrastructure. Two police officers were wounded in the attack.

According to Ukraine’s National Police, the strike involved Shahed-type drones and caused fires in private and multi-storey residential buildings, as well as infrastructure facilities. Civilian vehicles were also damaged.

In the Zaporizhzhia district, two police officers sustained shrapnel wounds while on duty. Both were hospitalized; their injuries are not reported to be life-threatening.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said several cars, buildings, and a warehouse caught fire following the attack. Emergency crews are working to extinguish all blazes. No civilian casualties have been reported so far.

Police investigators and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are working at the scenes. Criminal proceedings have been launched under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code — war crimes.
