Unidentified drones were spotted flying over the Ramstein US base and Rheinmetall facilities in Germany

In early December, unidentified drones were spotted flying over a number of industrial and military facilities in Germany, including the US base in Ramstein.

Spiegel reports this with reference to a confidential report from German security authorities.

On the evening of December 3 and 4, “numerous drones” were observed over the Ramstein air base. Despite a rapid search, the drone operators could not be identified.

The drones also appeared over the facilities of the defense company Rheinmetall and the chemical giant BASF. The origin of the drones remains unknown.

The U.S. military confirmed the drone flight over the base, noting that the incident did not affect the operation of the facilities or the safety of residents.

“In early December, several small unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted near Ramstein Air Force Base. They did not pose a threat to the base or military equipment,” commented the base spokesperson.
