On the night of October 25, Russian forces launched strikes on thermal power plants, substations and coal mines across Ukraine. The large-scale attacks caused damage in nine regions, with civilians also reported killed and injured.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this.

According to the president, Russian strikes overnight targeted not only energy facilities but also grain storage facilities, shopping centers and a postal terminal.

Zelenskyy did not specify which thermal power plants and substations had been targeted or the extent of the damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

He stressed that Russia continues to carry out large-scale attacks as winter approaches. Over the past week alone, Russian forces have used approximately 1,600 guided aerial bombs, 48 missiles of various types, including ballistic missiles, and nearly 2,300 attack drones against Ukraine.

Russian strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region killed four people and injured 22 others, including an 11-year-old girl.

In Vinnytsia, a Russian drone struck a multi-story residential building, injuring six people.

In Kharkiv, Russian forces first attacked a home improvement hypermarket before launching a second strike targeting emergency responders who had arrived to deal with the aftermath. Several rescuers were injured.

Amid renewed attacks on energy infrastructure, Zelenskyy urged international partners to accelerate deliveries of air defense equipment.

In particular, the president emphasized the need to unblock already approved European deliveries of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which play a crucial role in defending against Russian ballistic missiles.

He also called for continued support for Ukrainian combat aviation to counter jet-powered Shahed drones.

“Every such defense package, especially ahead of winter, helps save lives,” Zelenskyy stressed.

The president said that support for Ukraine’s defense must not decline while diplomatic efforts to end the war continue.
