The head coach of the Ukrainian women’s national football team, Volodymyr Pyatenko, will leave his post after his contract expires at the end of 2025. This means that the team will approach the 2027 World Cup qualifiers with a new coach.
This was reported by Suspilne Sport.
Volodymyr Pyatenko has been the head coach of Ukraine’s women’s national football team since 2023. During this period, the team played 24 official matches under his leadership, winning 12 and drawing four. The most significant result of Pyatenko’s work was the team’s promotion in the Nations League — next season, the ‘blue and yellows’ will compete in Division A.
Despite the results achieved, Pyatenko will leave his position as head coach of the Ukrainian women’s national team. According to him, he has decided not to renew his contract, which is valid until the end of 2025.
‘Yes, my contract is ending, and I am not renewing it. I have personal reasons for this,’ Pyatenko explained.
Among the possible candidates for the vacant position is Vorskla head coach Iya Andrushchak, who said she is not ready to confirm or deny this information at this time.
“Pyatenko V.M. has a valid contract until 31 December 2025, so I am not confirming or denying anything at this time. When official information appears on the UAF website, then it will be possible to talk about something,” Andrushchak said.
In 2026, the Ukrainian women’s national team will begin competing in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers. According to the results of the draw, the team’s rivals will be the reigning world champions Spain, the winners of Euro 2025 England and the Iceland national team.
The Ukrainians will begin their qualifying campaign for the world championship with a home match against England, scheduled for 3 March 2026.
