Italian Andrea Maldera became the new head coach of the Ukrainian national football team. The contract with the Italian specialist was signed for two years with the possibility of extension.
The appointment was announced by the Ukrainian Football Association.
Maldera’s candidacy was approved by the UAF Executive Committee upon the proposal of the National Teams Committee. Thus, the Ukrainian national team was headed by a foreign coach for the first time.
Andrea Maldera was born on May 18, 1971. During his career, he worked as an assistant head coach in Milan, Brighton and Marseille.
In 2016–2021, Maldera was a member of Andriy Shevchenko’s coaching staff in the Ukrainian national team.
