Specialists from Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence have discovered an Nvidia Jetson Orin computer module inside Russia’s new S-71 Monochrome air-launched cruise missile. The intelligence agency says the use of such a component may indicate that artificial intelligence technologies are being employed in the missile.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
The new data were published in the “Components in Weapons” section of the War&Sanctions portal. In total, specialists identified 35 electronic components in weapons used by Russian forces.
Among them are components of a passive radar seeker that Russia has begun installing on Geran-2 UAVs to detect and strike air defence systems and radar stations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Specialists also identified a Chinese-made Honpho TS130C-01 camera from a Geran-4 jet-powered UAV, as well as components of the active homing head of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile.
Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence said that together with specialists from Ukrainian research institutions, it continues to examine Russian weapons and determine the origin of their electronic components.
According to the intelligence agency, this information helps Ukraine and its partners identify critical foreign technologies used in Russian weapons and strengthen measures aimed at blocking their supply to Russia.
Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence also said that two years of experience operating the War&Sanctions portal demonstrate Russia’s inability to fully replace foreign high-tech components with domestically produced alternatives.
The discovery of Nvidia Jetson in the new Russian missile was described by the intelligence agency as another argument for increasing sanctions pressure and strengthening international coordination.
