Situation at the front: 75 combat engagements since the beginning of the day

As of 16:00 on 12 January, Russian troops continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders in several directions, but suffer significant losses, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

Key areas of fighting:.

• Kharkiv sector: the enemy twice tried to break through the defences near Vovchansk and Kozacha Lopan.
• Kupyansk sector: six attacks near Petropavlivka and Pishchane, three are ongoing.
• Liman sector: seven attacks, three of them ongoing.
• Kramatorsk sector: eight attacks repelled, four attacks continue near Bila Hora and Chasovyi Yar.
• Toretsk sector: nine attacks, fighting continues near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.
• Pokrovsk sector: 33 occupants’ attacks, 22 of which were repelled, 11 battles are still ongoing.

Shelling:.
Russia continues shelling the border communities of Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as strikes in other areas.

Other details:.
The enemy did not conduct any active attacks in the Orikhiv, Huliaypillia and Prydniprovskyi sectors.

Ukrainian troops are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment.
