On the night of October 4, drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine attacked the Russian military airfield Khanskaya in the Republic of Adygea. According to the SBU, a Su-35 fighter jet, a Su-34 fighter-bomber and an ammunition depot were hit.
This was reported by the SBU.
The operation was carried out by drones of the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center. The targeted airfield is located about 500 km away.
One of the targets hit was a Su-35 multirole fighter, which the SBU described as one of the most advanced combat aircraft in the Russian air force. Its export value is estimated at around $100 million.
A Su-34 fighter-bomber, one of the key aircraft of Russia’s tactical aviation, was also hit. Its export value is estimated at around $50 million.
In addition to the aircraft, SBU drones struck an ammunition depot on the territory of the military airfield.
The security service stressed that both aircraft can carry guided aerial bombs, which Russian forces use extensively on the front line and in attacks on Ukrainian cities.
“The SBU systematically targets Russian military facilities, steadily reducing its ability to wage war against Ukraine. Enemy strikes on Ukrainian cities, civilian and critical infrastructure will not go unanswered,” the security service said.
The SBU did not specify the extent of damage to the Su-35, Su-34 or other facilities at the airfield.
