Russia’s announcement of a unilateral Easter “truce” has proven to be ineffective — despite Moscow’s claims, fighting on the front lines continues. The monitoring project DeepState reported that 18 hours after the so-called “ceasefire” began, Russian forces remain active in various sectors.

This is further confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who, following a report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, emphasized that the enemy continues to launch assaults, shell positions, and use drones across different areas of the front.

While the overall intensity of combat has decreased — with some areas experiencing unusual silence and others noting reduced artillery and drone activity — Russian forces continue offensive operations. In many locations, they are relying on artillery, FPV drones, and strike and reconnaissance UAVs.

A notable feature of the current situation is the near-complete absence of guided aerial bombs and tactical aviation. However, the enemy is taking advantage of the relative lull to rotate troops, build up forces near the line of contact, strengthen positions, and carry out mine-laying.

According to DeepState analysts, this situation once again demonstrates that agreements with Russia are not worth the paper they’re written on. Ukrainian frontline troops continue to respond decisively, mirroring any hostile actions. Some units are using the relative calm to improve positions and evacuate the wounded.

Ukrainian defenders are also preparing for the possibility that once Russia’s declared “truce” ends, the enemy will resume operations with greater intensity.
