Ukraine’s Security Service has confirmed a strike on the Perm oil pumping station in Russia, located more than 1,500 km from the Ukrainian border. A large-scale fire broke out at the site following the drone attack.
According to Security Service of Ukraine, the strike was carried out by specialists from the Alpha special operations unit. The target was the Perm linear production and dispatch station, owned by Transneft, a key hub in Russia’s oil transportation system.
The SBU said the station distributes oil in several directions, including to the Perm refinery. Preliminary reports indicate that most oil storage tanks at the site are on fire.
Acting head of the SBU Yevhenii Khmara said the strikes are aimed at reducing Russia’s export potential and undermining the economic base that funds the war against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine plans to extend the range of such operations, as each hit reduces Russia’s military-industrial, logistics and oil export capabilities.
