The European Union has officially announced that it will allocate nearly €1.9 billion in military aid to Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on social media.
According to him, the decision is historic — the funds will be provided through the European Peace Fund from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
A total of €1 billion will be used to purchase weapons directly from Ukrainian manufacturers under the so-called ‘Danish model’. This will not only strengthen defence, but also support the economy and the development of the Ukrainian defence industry.
In addition, more than €600 million will go towards artillery and ammunition, and another €200 million will be spent on strengthening air defence.
Shmyhal thanked the European Union for its support and separately noted the contribution of Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Italy, which will participate in the procurement of Ukrainian weapons.
