A heavy military drone Altus crashed in Kazan, Russia, falling onto a private house.

This is evidenced by eyewitness videos and reports from Russian media.

The incident occurred in the morning. According to local residents, before the crash, the drone was flying over the city accompanied by a Cessna aircraft. The accident occurred about a kilometre from the runway.

After the aircraft crashed in the area of the Kazanka-3 gardening community, a fire broke out. There is currently no information about casualties.

The Russian side does not confirm the military purpose of the drone — some media outlets refer to it as ‘civilian.’ However, footage from the scene indicates that it is indeed a military Altus UAV.

This type of drone has been developed by the Simonov Design Bureau in Kazan since 2011. In 2018, the project was transferred to the Ural Aviation Plant. The aircraft made its first flight in August 2019.
