Kyiv is deploying resilience centers in the Obolonskyi, Podilskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts due to the difficult power supply situation. At the same time, around 700 generators have already been installed at the capital’s heat and water supply facilities, while more powerful backup power stations are being built for large infrastructure sites.

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.

Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleiev said low-capacity generators are being used at boiler houses, heating substations, local pumping stations and other facilities.

A total of 155 public water wells are also equipped with generators and can serve as an additional source of drinking water in the event of disruptions to the centralized supply system.

According to Panteleiev, such generators are not sufficient to provide backup power for major heat and water supply facilities. For this purpose, the city needs separate diesel power plants and cogeneration units.

Some of these projects have already been completed and put into operation, while the remaining facilities under the Energy Resilience Plan are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Due to massive Russian strikes on the energy system, the situation in Ukraine remains difficult. In Kyiv, emergency power cuts are currently being applied to consumers on the right bank, while hourly outage schedules are in effect on the left bank.

Municipal services are also working to fully restore water supply in the Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, where reduced supply parameters are still being recorded.

Separately, city authorities ordered resilience centers to be deployed in the Obolonskyi, Podilskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts, where the energy supply situation is the most difficult.

The centers are to be equipped with everything necessary so residents can charge phones, power banks and other essential devices.
