        Russia reports massive drone attack: power substation damaged in Volgograd region

        The Russian Ministry of Defence said that on Saturday night, its territory was attacked by nearly a hundred drones. The ministry’s daily report says that 99 drones were allegedly destroyed or intercepted.

        According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, most of the drones were shot down over the Bryansk (36), Smolensk (21), Kaluga (10), Volgograd and Rostov (9 each) regions. It is also reported that four UAVs were shot down over the temporarily occupied Crimea, two each over the Voronezh and Kursk regions and the Black Sea, and one each over the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol and Tambov regions.

        Local residents in the Volgograd region reported that drones had hit an electrical substation near the railway in the village of Oktyabrsky. The Russian governor confirmed the attack, noting that the debris had damaged the contact network on the railway. According to him, there were no casualties, and repair crews and Russian Railways employees are working at the site.

        Geolocation materials from the scene of the incident have already appeared on social network X (formerly Twitter). Users believe that it was the power substation that supplies electricity to the railway infrastructure that was on fire.
