Ukrainian boxing has suffered a significant loss with the passing of Vyacheslav Uzelkov, a celebrated boxer and former WBA Inter-Continental, IBO International, and WBO Inter-Continental light heavyweight champion. This was announced by the Ukrainian Boxing Federation.
Vyacheslav Uzelkov was known for his accomplishments in the light heavyweight division, representing Ukraine at international competitions and gaining recognition for his technique, speed, and punching power. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous professional bouts, including title fights. His sportsmanship and determination made him one of the most prominent figures in his weight class.
‘His name will forever be etched in sports history, and his example of strength, resilience, and dedication will inspire future generations.
We extend our deepest condolences to Vyacheslav’s family and friends. May he rest in peace,’ the FBU statement said.
The cause of death remains unknown. About a month prior, Uzelkov revealed that he had received a second-degree disability following five surgeries.
He was 45 years old.
