Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited Kursk region for the first time since the start of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in the region, Russian state media reported.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Putin held a meeting at one of the command posts of the Kursk group of troops. During the meeting, Putin again set the task of liberating the Kursk region.
The Kremlin leader also instructed to ‘think especially’ about creating a security zone along the Russian-Ukrainian border.
As a reminder, on 6 August 2024, Ukrainian troops launched an offensive in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The rapid advance deep into the territory of the aggressor country led to the disorganisation of Russian army units located directly on the border or in the near rear. Some of the Russian military were forced to surrender to Ukrainian troops.
