Princess Anne makes surprise visit to Ukraine and pays tribute to children killed in the war

Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III, made an unannounced visit to Kyiv, where she met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The trip was arranged at the request of the UK Foreign Office as a sign of Britain’s continued support for Ukraine in its war against Russia, Sky News reported.

Together with First Lady Olena Zelenska, the Princess visited a memorial dedicated to children killed during the war. She left a soft toy — a teddy bear once played with by her daughter Zara Tindall — explaining that the gesture held special significance for her family.

Anne’s visit came just days after a major Russian missile strike on Kyiv, which killed at least four people, including a 12-year-old girl.

During the trip, the Princess also met with female police officers and soldiers protecting women and children. At the Child Rights Protection Centre she spoke with families whose children had been brought back from Russia, and she visited a rehabilitation centre treating Ukrainian veterans.

Princess Anne became the second member of the British Royal Family to travel to Ukraine during the war — last year the Duchess of Edinburgh made a similar visit to Kyiv.
