The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office is investigating a possible attempted attack on a defense-sector company in Munich. According to Bayerischer Rundfunk, the company in question is technology group Rohde & Schwarz.

This was reported by Der Spiegel, citing law enforcement officials and the company.

On the night of September 3, several incendiary devices were thrown onto a construction site near the company’s premises. At least one of them started a fire, which was extinguished by police officers.

Another device had to be defused by specialists. According to police, no major damage was reported.

Rohde & Schwarz confirmed that police and firefighters were deployed near its Munich site overnight, but said the company’s premises themselves were not affected.

According to preliminary information, the incendiary devices were thrown from a car around midnight. A witness saw the incident and alerted police.

Following a search operation, law enforcement officers detained a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man at a petrol station. Investigators are now determining whether they were involved in the attack.

The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation because of a possible political motive.

Rohde & Schwarz specializes in test and measurement equipment, radio communications, cybersecurity, radio monitoring and radiolocation, as well as broadcasting and media. It is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic test equipment and wireless communications systems.
