President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the North Korean military had already suffered its first losses in the battles against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region.
He said this at a press conference following the summit of the European Political Union.
According to the president, there are currently about 11,000 soldiers from the DPRK in the Kursk region. Some of them have already engaged in hostilities against the Ukrainian military, which has led to losses among the North Korean contingent.
Zelenskyy also expressed concern that Russia could increase the number of North Korean troops if the West does not respond with decisive action.
“If we do not use political pressure and appropriate weapons, the next step may be a much bigger use of the North Korean contingent. Because Putin always looks at the reaction of the world. I think it is not enough today,” he said.
