Amid large-scale protests in the cities of Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mbeya, and Moshi, and a general deterioration of the security situation in Tanzania — including the imposition of a curfew in the capital — the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on Ukrainian citizens in the country to remain vigilant and avoid potentially dangerous areas.

According to the MFA, the crisis erupted following nationwide demonstrations sparked by disputed presidential elections on October 29, 2025. Opposition groups accused the authorities of barring key candidates from participating, triggering unrest across the country. In Dar es Salaam and Arusha, security forces reportedly used tear gas and live ammunition against protesters. Local sources report several casualties and widespread internet disruptions, including restrictions on social media platforms.

The MFA advises Ukrainians in Tanzania to exercise heightened caution, avoid large gatherings — especially in areas where protests are taking place or may occur — limit movement unless necessary, remain in safe locations, and refrain from joining any public demonstrations. In the event of a curfew, citizens should strictly adhere to all movement restrictions.
