During the night of May 24, Russian forces carried out a massive combined attack on Kyiv. Fires and destruction of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were recorded in different districts of the capital, with one person killed and dozens injured.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that the attack caused damage and fires in several districts of Kyiv simultaneously. In the Darnytskyi district, the roof of a two-story dormitory caught fire over an area of about 150 square meters. Rescuers are evacuating residents and extinguishing the blaze.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, shelling caused a fire on the second floor of a school covering 300 square meters. A five-story residential building also suffered destruction within one of its entrances, with a fire spreading from the first to the fifth floor. Hits on a business center building and a fire at a market were also recorded. In another nine-story residential building, a strike hit between the eighth and ninth floors, where, according to preliminary information, one person was killed. In addition, the museum building of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv region was damaged.

In the Dniprovskyi district, fires broke out in a private residential house and on the territory of a garage cooperative. In the Desnianskyi district, strikes hit a shopping mall and a supermarket building, while five garage units caught fire.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district, authorities reported a hit on a nine-story residential building. In the Solomianskyi district, a fire and structural destruction occurred on the 23rd floor of a 24-story residential building, and warehouse facilities in an industrial zone were also damaged.

In the Obolonskyi district, according to preliminary data, a residential building was on fire, while another blaze broke out in a 16-story high-rise between the 12th and 13th floors, as well as in a construction hypermarket. In the Pecherskyi district, a fire erupted on the 13th floor of a 20-story residential building, and a temporary utility structure nearby also caught fire.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that as of 06:00, the number of injured in the capital had risen to 34, including a 15-year-old boy. Thirteen people were hospitalized, three of them in serious condition. Eight other victims received medical assistance on site.
