Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not ready to stop the war and is preparing a new mobilisation in Russia. The scale of the new mobilisation wave in Russia could range from 300,000 to 500,000 people.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Sky News.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Putin wants to intensify mobilisation after the State Duma elections scheduled for September 21. At the same time, the Russian authorities do not plan to conduct it openly because Putin fears the reaction of society.
Zelenskyy suggested that the new mobilisation could begin in early October unless Ukraine creates problems for Russia with logistics, weapons, petrol and diesel fuel, and Kyiv’s partners impose comprehensive sanctions over Russian aggression.
Zelenskyy stressed that such mobilisation would become a serious problem because the Kremlin could expect to recruit between 300,000 and 500,000 people. Mobilising such a number of people would not be too difficult for Russia, although it would raise additional questions inside the country.
The president noted that Russian society opposes mobilisation, while a significant part of the population also opposes the war. At the same time, these people continue to support Putin.
Zelenskyy also said that Russia would not be able to train such a large number of mobilised people quickly. As a result, he said, the Kremlin would send poorly trained people to the front, which would lead to heavy losses.
