UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday. The talks are due to take place ahead of the Ukrainian president’s planned visit to the United States.

The talks will be held in the United Kingdom at one of its naval bases. The visit is intended to demonstrate the continuity of British support for Ukraine following Keir Starmer’s resignation as prime minister.
“Britain’s support for Ukraine remains unwavering,” Burnham said.
It is noted that the meeting will take place ahead of Zelenskyy’s trip to the United States, scheduled for the end of the week, amid efforts to revive negotiations on ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Earlier, the United Kingdom announced that it would transfer intellectual property rights for the Stone Cloak system to Ukraine. It is a tablet-sized device that prevents Russian air defense systems from tracking and targeting drones.
Bloomberg notes that British support for Ukraine has not been limited to military assistance and public statements. London has also worked with European partners on sanctions and sought to preserve US support.
At the same time, the British side has urged Zelenskyy behind closed doors to address sensitive domestic issues, including those related to corruption.
During his first week in office, Burnham focused mainly on domestic policy and measures to reduce the cost of living. His meeting with Zelenskyy will be one of the first tests of his willingness to act on the international stage.
