        Ukrainian Air Force says Russia launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile at Ukraine

        The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russia used an intermediate-range ballistic missile during the massive overnight attack on Ukraine on May 24. Kyiv was the main target of the strike.

        The Air Force Command said radiotechnical troops detected a total of 690 airborne attack assets — 90 missiles and 600 drones of various types.

        According to the military, Russian forces launched one intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar area in Russia’s Astrakhan region.

        In addition, the enemy used two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, three 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles, 30 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, and 54 Kh-101, Iskander-K and Kalibr cruise missiles.

        Russia also attacked Ukraine with 600 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas UAVs, Banderol loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones.

        According to preliminary data as of 09:30, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or suppressed 604 aerial targets, including 55 missiles and 549 drones.

        The military added that 19 Russian missiles likely failed to reach their targets, while information on possible crash sites is being уточнено.

        As of 09:30, impacts from 16 missiles and 51 strike drones were recorded at 54 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at 23 locations.

        “The attack is ongoing. Several strike UAVs remain in Ukraine’s airspace,” the Ukrainian Air Force said.
