On the night of July 2, Russia carried out a massive attack on Kyiv using strike drones and ballistic missiles. As of the morning, at least 10 people were reported killed in the capital.

This was reported by Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Kyiv’s emergency service.
According to Klitschko, 34 people were injured in the attack. Medics hospitalized 32 of them, while two received treatment at the scene.
Tkachenko said the attack lasted several hours and unfolded in several waves. At first, enemy strike drones were detected over the city and on the approaches to the capital. Later, there was a threat of ballistic missile use.
The first reports of falling debris came on the evening of July 1. Debris was recorded in the Desnianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. In Shevchenkivskyi district, the roof of a hotel and a non-residential building caught fire.
The situation worsened sharply overnight. In Shevchenkivskyi district, a residential building was damaged and a medical facility was partially destroyed. According to Klitschko, a building housing one of the city’s ambulance substations was damaged.
Five medical workers and substation drivers were injured in that district. One of them, a paramedic, was reported to be in extremely serious condition.
In Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out on the technical floor of a 16-storey residential building.
In Desnianskyi district, a 9-storey residential building was damaged and partially destroyed. People were reported trapped.
In Darnytskyi district, according to the emergency service, a 5-storey residential building, a 9-storey building, the upper floors of a 16-storey building and private houses were damaged or partially destroyed. Klitschko reported destruction from the first to the sixth floors of a 9-storey residential building.
In Pecherskyi district, a 9-storey residential building was damaged. A fire also broke out on the first and second floors, covering an area of 200 square meters. Rescuers saved one person there.
In Obolonskyi district, a fire broke out at a warehouse site. According to the emergency service, people brought an injured person to the nearest fire station, where rescuers provided first aid.
In Sviatoshynskyi district, two private residential houses were damaged, and fires broke out at several locations.
Tkachenko said a total of 28 locations across the city were known to have been damaged in the Russian strike. Most of them were residential areas and civilian infrastructure facilities.
According to the emergency service, fires and destruction of civilian infrastructure and residential buildings occurred in several Kyiv districts at once — Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Desnianskyi.
On the morning of July 2, rescuers were still working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. In particular, firefighters continued to extinguish a warehouse fire in Obolonskyi district.
UPDATED 7:45 am. According to updated information from Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko, the number of people injured in the massive attack on Kyiv has risen to 56. Among them are two children.
