Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has made a statement about attempts to drag his country into war and criticized Ukrainian democracy. According to Lukashenko, Belarus may not be able to withstand participation in the war.
Lukashenko said this before the Christmas service in the church, Belta reports.
The Belarusian dictator believes that there is “great tension” around his country. According to Lukashenko, Zelensky is allegedly being given commands to drag Minsk into a war.
“Why is Volodymyr Zelenskyy behaving like this? We were fine with him, in good relations. And so was my little family. What does he lack? He is given a command. He should do everything possible to drag the country into war”, – Lukashenko said.
According to him, if Belarus is dragged into a war, it may not be able to withstand it.
“If we are dragged into a war, this is a difficult situation. We may not be able to withstand it as a state. Therefore, I am doing everything patiently, persistently. Time will evaluate everything. But we have to survive,” – Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko also recalled the words of the President of Ukraine in his New Year’s address: “Long live Belarus!”
“Well, it lives. Of course, it lives. He did say that soon everyone in Belarus would be saying these slogans. He seemed to be hinting that soon it would be like in Ukraine. I thought so when I heard him. And I thought: “God forbid”, – the Belarusian leader said.
Lukashenko criticized Ukrainian democracy and said that “a dictatorship like in Belarus is better than a democracy like in Ukraine”.
