A Ukrainian F-16 pilot has set a unique record by destroying six enemy cruise missiles in one combat mission.

This was reported by Colonel Yuriy Ihnat, Head of Public Relations of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The record was set during a large-scale shelling on December 13, when Russians launched hundreds of drones and more than 90 missiles of various types at Ukraine. The main task of the F-16 pilots was to intercept the cruise missiles.

The pilot first destroyed four missiles using air-to-air missiles. When he saw another target, he used an rotary cannon.

“I followed the instructions of the American trainers and hit the target. As it turned out, two missiles flying nearby were destroyed at once,” the pilot said in an interview with Ihnat.

The Air Force noted that this is the first time in history that an F-16 pilot has destroyed six cruise missiles in one flight.
