Russian saboteurs who blew up a railroad track in front of a Ukrzaliznytsia train have been detained in Khmelnytsky region.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, two attackers blew up a track on a local railroad section along which a freight train was moving.

“To commit the sabotage, the suspects manufactured a remote-controlled improvised explosive device filled with TNT and plastid. They placed the finished explosive under the railroad tracks and activated it when the locomotive approached,” the statement said.

No one was injured in the incident. The driver managed to stop the train in time, and after repairing the railroad track, the echelon with the cargo continued to its destination.

The aggressor’s accomplices were two residents of Khmelnytsky region aged 28 and 29. One of them was a drug addict, the other was a deserter who had left his military unit without permission and was hiding.

The criminals are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
