On March 10, a massive strike by ground handling employees at 13 airports in Germany, organized by the Verdi trade union, began. The strike, which will last 24 hours, has already led to the cancellation of thousands of flights. Passengers are urged to check the status of their flights in advance and refrain from traveling to airports if possible.

This is reported by Bild.

All scheduled flights at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport have been canceled. Passengers are asked to contact the airlines for information on refunds, rescheduling or alternative routes.

In Frankfurt, more than 1170 flights were canceled, affecting about 150 thousand passengers. People were advised not to come to the airport at all, as the service was almost completely suspended.

In Munich, most of the planned 820 flights have been canceled, but about 170 flights will still take place. Passengers are warned of possible delays and asked to follow the updates.

Serious disruptions are also reported at the airports of Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Stuttgart.

The Verdi trade union is demanding an 8% increase in salaries for ground handling employees (about 350 euros per month), an increase in bonuses for working in difficult conditions and three additional days off.
