Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a 10-year-old boy had been hospitalized with severe injuries. Doctors are currently operating on him.

According to Klitschko, the child’s parents were not found under the rubble. His grandfather is staying with him.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said the night had been difficult for the capital. According to him, Russian forces used a wide range of weapons, and most of the strikes hit residential areas.

“Its goal is to intimidate and destroy the civilian population of the capital”, Tkachenko said.

He also said that the fate of some Kyiv residents remains unknown. Rescuers, utility workers and volunteers continue working at the sites.

Tkachenko expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.

“I understand that no words can ease the pain of loss”, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration said.

Operational aid centers are working in Kyiv districts to assist residents affected by the overnight attack on the capital.

Earlier, Kyiv declared July 3 a Day of Mourning for those killed in Russia’s most massive attack on the capital.
