The Kremlin has commented on the recent statement by US President Donald Trump, who on the night of May 26 sharply criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for the massive shelling of Ukraine.
According to Russian media, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that “this is a very crucial moment, associated with emotional overstrain for everyone,” emphasizing that the Kremlin is closely monitoring the reactions of world leaders.
“President Putin is making the decisions necessary to ensure the security of our country,” Peskov added, without actually commenting on the substance of Trump’s accusations.
As a reminder, in a nightly post on his Truth Social platform, Trump called Putin “crazy”, accusing him of senseless killings and massive strikes on Ukrainian cities. At the same time, he also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of creating “problems.”
Despite his loud statements, Trump did not answer journalists’ questions about whether he plans to increase sanctions against Russia or change the US policy of supporting Ukraine.
