The Kremlin has stated that it has no new information regarding the energy truce that lasted until 1 February and has confirmed that Russia’s position on possible talks between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin remains unchanged.

This was reported by TASS, citing statements by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, if Zelenskyy wants negotiations with Putin, they must take place only in Moscow.

Peskov did not elaborate on the visit of Kremlin special representative Kirill Dmitriev to Miami, stating that only a conceptual assessment of the negotiations had been made by both sides — Dmitriev and Witkoff. According to him, resolving the situation around Ukraine is a complex and multi-vector process: on some issues, the parties have come close to a decision, while on others, they have not.

Peskov added that Dmitriev heads a working group on economic cooperation, and these issues fall within his competence.

Peskov also said that there are currently no specifics regarding the organisation of contacts between Putin and Emmanuel Macron, while calling the French side’s opinion on the need to establish a channel of communication with the Russian Federation ‘healthy’.
