Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani rejected the claim that the explosion near an Italian restaurant in Moscow was allegedly intended to intimidate Italians. He called such a version a “colossal lie.”
This was reported by the Italian national news agency ANSA.
Tajani said he saw no logic in the suggestion that Ukrainians might have tried to intimidate Italians. According to him, Italy supports Kyiv.
“The claim that the attack on the Italian restaurant in Moscow was carried out to intimidate Italians is a colossal lie. Why would Ukrainians intimidate Italians if our country stands with Kyiv?” Tajani said.
He was responding to statements by the Russian ambassador in Rome.
As a reminder, the Russian Embassy in Italy accused Ukraine of organizing the explosion at Moscow’s Balzi Rossi restaurant. The diplomatic mission claimed that the attack was allegedly intended to intimidate Italians and also used the phrase about the “bloody tentacles of Zelenskyy’s terrorist gang.”
The embassy also said that five people were killed in the explosion and another 19 restaurant visitors were seriously injured.
