Apple plans to launch four iPhone 17 models in September 2025: the basic iPhone 17, the new iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. According to numerous rumors and leaks, Apple will abandon the Plus version due to weak sales and replace it with a thinner iPhone 17 Air with a body about 6 mm thick and a screen about 6.6 inches.
All four models will feature LTPO OLED displays with ProMotion (120 Hz) for the first time, as well as Apple’s own Wi-Fi 7. The basic iPhone 17 is expected to grow to 6.3 inches and have a design similar to the iPhone 16, while the iPhone 17 Air and Pro versions may receive a horizontal or elongated rectangular camera unit with a new lens arrangement.
The Pro Max model will have three 48-megapixel cameras (Wide, Ultra Wide and Telephoto) with 8K video support, while the Air will have a single 48-megapixel module. All iPhone 17 models will have a new 24-megapixel front camera. Pro models will switch to an aluminum frame instead of titanium and have a combined glass and aluminum back for strength.
Inside, all four models may receive an A19 chip (Pro – A19 Pro), and the Pro and Air versions will have 12 GB of RAM. An improved cooling system with a steam chamber is also expected in the Pro models. Prices can start at around $799 for the base model, $899 for the Air, and $999 for the Pro.
